The hand of our heavenly Father was on Orlando, Florida on April 5th, as believers from all over the country gathered for the annual Liberty Counsel gala, themed “A New Birth Of Freedom.”
The event lived up to its title, empowered by 65 volunteers.
After welcoming attendees, Liberty Counsel co-founder Mat Staver discussed where we’ve been – and where we are now.
“We want to be able to celebrate a lot of aspects of freedom and we're essentially looking over a five-year period when we really entered into an unprecedented time which we call the winter, and you'll see that theme coming throughout this evening and that's when we had this unprecedented experience of COVID and the draconian unconstitutional restrictions that we all lived through.”
Staver, and the Liberty Counsel team, have been at the tip of the spear in fighting for individual freedom, highlighted during informational video segments, including their defense of Tampa, FL based Pastor Rodney Howard-Brown, who was among the first to be arrested for keeping his church doors open.
The Gettysburg Address… Like You’ve Never Heard It Before
There’s an amazing testimony in education happening in Central Florida with Victory Christian Academy, college preparatory school offering the highest level of academic achievement for our students attending K5 through 12th grade.
“These young people are amazing,” shared We Are The Watchmen Weekly publisher Julianna Ormond. “When RC (Williams) and I spoke to the kids last week about parallel economies at the school after a tour, you could tell there was something incredibly special – the work of our Father – happening with our future generations.”
Those young people were welcomed to the stage, performing a rendition of the Gettysburg address, complete with Abraham Lincoln, which deserves to be enjoyed by the world:
“We here today are in a Gettysburg moment,” said Victory Christian Academy Instructor Nancy Randolph. “Gettysburg was a moment that changed Abraham Lincoln's life spiritually for the better and the greater in the natural tide of war.”
“President Lincoln said of himself,” Randolph continued. “He said ‘When I left Springfield, I asked the people to pray for me but I was not a Christian.’ He said ‘When I lost my youngest son Willie it was the most trying time in my life, but I wasn't a Christian, but when I looked over Gettysburg and saw the thousands of bodies…’ he said ‘It was then and there that I consecrated my life to Jesus.’ And this is something that we should do as we look over what we see here today.”
“The ROI You Get From Supporting This Ministry…”
John Stemberger, President of Liberty Counsel Action, the 501c4 arm of Liberty Counsel, took to the stage to walk the audience through the “return on investment” that supporters of both organizations receive from their contribution, and how they do things differently.
“Our biggest victory of last year was No On 4 (the legalization of abortion in the State of Florida). We are thrilled,” said Stemberger.
“This is something that I was passionate about, and I appealed to Mat (Staver) and he said ‘Let's go for it…’ So that's all we did… LCA last year, we had six pastor’s conferences in five days. We basically mobilized pastors, educated and trained them. We had materials we produced about 2.5 million rack cards which were delivered to 67 counties.”
Then came a major announcement.
“We have a major campaign announcement. We're going to be launching a major national well-funded campaign along with a coalition of other groups to end abortion in America,” said Stemberger.
“Now I know this can sound like braggadocio and I know this can sound like ‘who do you guys think you are…’ This is not just us. This is a major well-funded project with multi-millions of dollars every year going to be organized and funneled into this campaign.”
This announcement is pivotal, because while believers were able to stave off Amendment 4 in the State of Florida, it was only because there was a 60% threshold requirement… and Amendment 4 had 57% vote yes.
“Look we're not doing well, we need to help the American people understand this issue,” Stemberger continued. “And we're going to do that. We're going to help them understand two things. Number one abortion hurts women, and it kills unborn children. We're not going to give up. We're never going to give up until the last baby is saved.”
Unlike most gold products, the Goldback is designed to be used as a currency with interchangeable denominations rather than varying premiums based on gold content.
“This Night Is All About A New Birth Of Freedom…”
Mat Staver returned to the stage to talk about Liberty Counsel and the progress that’s been made with a detailed walkthrough of the history & more:
Leadership, In Multiple Forms – Byron & Erika Donalds, Doc Pete Chambers, & John Strand
The evening was capped off with remarks from Congressman Byron Donalds and his wife, Erika, along with special awards presented to Doc Pete Chambers, Col. Joe, and J6er, John Strand.
Erika Donalds shared a powerful testimony about how she, and Congressman Donalds, came to the Father and what it meant in their family, business, and civic leadership.
Then, Congressman (and Florida Gubernatorial candidate) Donalds took the stage, sharing his story of victory, his progression through politics (including a story about Mark Levin) and his vision for the future of Florida as Governor.

“Military Dogs Are Ranked One Rank Higher Than Their Handlers…”
The evening's awards ceremony took center stage next with special honors, including one for “Col. Joe” a K-9 with a special story.
“Military dogs are ranked one rank higher than their handlers,” said Mat Staver. “That's how highly thought of they are among the military.”
Both Col. Joe, and Col. Doc Pete Chambers were honored with the “Defender of Liberty” award, and Doc Chambers shared a very personal story, including his testimony about the power of Jesus Christ:
The Patriot Plea
J6 political prisoner and author of the book, “Patriot Plea,” John Strand was also honored with the “Defender of Freedom” award and shared his thoughts on his fight and what we, as the Church, need to do.
A Powerful, And Well Deserved, Ending
The evening concluded with a prayer and a call for action from Pastor Lorenzo Sewell. In addition to this and to his benediction at President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Pastor Sewell was also featured in We Are The Watchmen Weekly as publisher Julianna Ormond’s Geneva Bible saved the day at the TPUSA Faith Believer’s Summit during Pastor Sewell’s speech last year.
Sewell opened with a rendition of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech followed by a special call for everyone to pray over the children from Victory Christian Academy:
A Night, And A Movement, That Deserve Attention
While we are called, as Watchmen, to report on difficult – and often demonic topics – there are Watchmen being brought together from all over the country for His Kingdom… as we all have pieces of the puzzle that He puts together for His glory.
The Liberty Counsel Gala was a shining example of that and deserves in-depth coverage and recognition like this, so that others who are working can understand why Mat and Anita Staver say, “Never Give Up.”
